Children’s eyes under the sun

365 days a year the sun emits rays that are harmful to the eyes, whether they are visible or not. These rays are threatening to eye health.

Children: most at risk?

During sunny days, children are spending more time outdoors and are therefore the most exposed to the sun’s rays.

Children’s eyes develop until the age of 12, which means their crystalline lens, the lens of the eye, is not yet mature enough to absorb all ultraviolet rays.

Potential consequences are: Possible development of several eye conditions, such as macular degeneration or dry eye syndrome.

How to protect ourselves?

Think about UV protection for the eyes! Objective: to check the UV protection index of your child’s eyeglasses and equip them with a pair of quality sunglasses.

Be especially vigilant in summer and between 11 am and 3 pm, when the intensity of UV rays is most intense.
